2019: mmWave, V-ADAS, the multimedia and telematic systems for the automobile market
On January 8, 2019 the MediaTek company provided technologies for automotive industry under the Autus brand. Autus provides the innovative solutions for the automobile industry in four key areas, including communications and multimedia systems, the systems of the help of Vision Advanced Driver Assistance to drivers and mmWave radars.
"Thanks to advanced technologies of the Internet of vehicles (IoV) and autonomous driving, MediaTek combined AI, communication and recognition with multimedia technologies and advanced technologies of data processing to create the most complete and most integrated solution for the automobile market. It allows car makers to develop products with smaller costs and essential the increased value for the end consumer". Telematics – the complete solution on internal communication for the Internet of vehicles
As noted in MediaTek, IoV is in a stage of fast development, integration and creation of a communication network, electronic and information technologies and also production technologies of cars which will give ample opportunities to end consumers. The Autus platform from MediaTek is presented in the form of the integrated system solutions developed communication technologies and also complex network compatibility with the Internet of vehicles.
The internal Autus modem is the system on a crystal (SoC) adapted for automobile specifics capable it is stable to work and transfer data in real time in the conditions of high temperatures and to meet standards of automobile security. The telematics and communication technologies of Autus support the main applications. The technology of aggregation of carrier frequencies Autus allows to maximize capacity of a communication channel, and the built-in program processor gives the chance to automobile producers to expand the list of the provided services. The integrated module of hardware protection (HSM) and an encryptor protect network and ensure data security. The high-integrated Autus chip helps to lower costs and to simplify development of automobile electronics, consider in MediaTek.
Infoteynment – the professional multimedia technologies provided with an infoteynment-system
The automobile multimedia systems give constantly extending entertaining opportunities therefore MediaTek continues to develop the Autus infoteynment-systems for automobile producers. Infoteynment-sistema Autus combines key technologies from the production MediaTek portfolio for smartphones, tablets, digital TVs and Blu-ray-drives. MediaTek constantly optimizes multimedia solutions to create products and services according to requirements of the automobile market, emphasized in MediaTek.
According to the statement of the developer, the Autus infoteynment-chip from MediaTek supports a possibility of functioning of several different operating systems. It is compatible to audiovisual solutions based on OS Android and Linux. Also it is equipped with the flexible audiovisual interface supporting different types of displays. Thanks to the different sensors and multimedia channels providing information on driving which are built in the car, the driver and passengers can how to enjoy the entertaining systems, and it is safe to move in space.
The system of the help to the driver of Vision Advanced Driver Assistance (V-ADAS) is VPU with the low level of energy consumption providing the high level of functionality
According to the developer, the Autus chip from MediaTek from the very beginning includes the system of the help to the driver based on visual data – V-ADAS. A system uses the flexible video processor (VPU) processing the large volume of dynamic images but at the same time consuming not enough energy. Thanks to it and also information obtained in real time from different sensors of the vehicle, safety of driving can be significantly increased. The Autus V-ADAS system uses machine learning technology for increase in accuracy and speed of object recognition that allows to improve tracking a marking, to detect vehicles and pedestrians and to analyze trajectories of their movement, to configure cameras of the vehicle and its function of peripheral panoramic monitoring. Thus the V-ADAS system, according to the developer, is the good assistant for the driver.
MediaTek develops automobile chipsets of Autus with the built-in functions of communication, multimedia, the advanced AI, compatibility with Internet of Things and many others. The Autus platform provides the effective solution for automobile producers allowing to make driving more pleasant claim in MediaTek company.
mmWave is the radar based on the CMOS array
The automobile industry gradually moves by an era of autonomous driving therefore the person will be gradually forced out driving by functionality of vehicles. The sensors and the mmWave radar capable to monitor changes of a surrounding situation will become one of the most important technologies, the developer claims. The Autus radar from MediaTek distinguishing objects at ultrashort distances together with the integrated digital processing of radio and video signal and the built-in antenna is developed especially for conditions of autonomous driving and prevention of collisions with other vehicles.
As noted in MediaTek, the chip is based on advanced radio-electronic technologies and the advanced production process of CMOS allowing to optimize the size and characteristics of the chip, to lower energy consumption and production costs. The Autus VHF radar provides the wide field of sight and more exact object recognition and also a fast feedback and reliable resistance to noises. It can be used in different conditions, including for automatic braking, determination of parking space and the automatic parking of the car.
Production of the Autus radar from MediaTek is started in 2018. In 2019 the Autus system will be made in large quantities.
