Solution purpose

Rapid development of online video and the growing popularity of entertaining services "on demand", most likely, will lead to the fact that in several years over 90% of all network traffic will fall on IP video. Today this indicator is from 35% to 60% depending on the country. To help broadcasters and operators with development of the new TV-services demanded by the audience and also it most full to implement the capacity of telecommunication networks, Ericsson proposes the complete solution in the field of delivery of IP video – network of delivery of media content, or Media Delivery Network (MDN).

Video traffic volumes will continue to grow in networks of operators which is generated by numerous Internet services (so-called over-the-top or OTT services) promptly, consumers become more and more exacting to quality of Internet video and even more often address different stream video services "on demand".

Thanks to a combination of ample opportunities of MDN with a portfolio of the various TV-services offered Ericsson, this solution will allow operators and broadcasters to lift income due to growth of volumes of video traffic without increase in maintenance expenses of network.

The solution MDN of Ericsson gives to operators the chance to implement the technologies allowing to solve a problem of the growing video traffic transferred on their networks. MDN is a modern distribution network of content which supports multichannel TV, video on demand and also transfer of stream OTT video within the same core infrastructure. It includes the solutions intended for distribution, working off, distribution, transcoding and delivery of video and also a content management system (CMS). Also it provides an opportunity for mailing of target advertizing and channel hopping within any platform on any screen. Wilson explains that Ericsson is going to become the conductor of new technologies in television industry thanks to the support given to broadcasters, developers and operators in development of TV.
