2021: Announcement of Medtronic SelectSite C304-HIS - catheter system for pacemakers

In the middle of March, 2021 the Medtronic company presented the system of flexible catheters SelectSite C304-HIS for installation of an electrocardiostimulator and also an electrode for cardiostimulation of SelectSecure MRI SureScan Model 3830 which can be used for stimulation of a bunch of Gis now.

Constant stimulation of the Gis bundle is an alternative to traditional pacing in the right ventricle and uses its own heart system to conduct impulses. In recent years, in clinical studies, the Gis beam has been considered as a possible location for an electrocardiostimulator with more accurate pulse transmission.

This catheter is expected to simplify the implantation of the Medtronic SelectSecure electrode on His ligament, "explained Zachary Whinnett, a consultant cardiologist at Imperial College London. - This new tool is an important step that will make the Gis bundle stimulation procedure available to more patients.

Medtronic SelectSite C304-HIS catheter system

The SelectSite C304-HIS catheter includes a flexible portion that provides access to the Gis bundle. The flexible catheter helps to place and secure the electrode for stimulation under difficult anatomical conditions, including in patients with an expanded right atrium. Thus, the C304-HIS catheter extends patient coverage compared to the previous version of C315HIS.

Following the completion of benchmarking and clinical analysis under real-world conditions, Medtronic was also authorized to use the electrode for pacing of Model 3830 SelectSecure MRI SureScan to stimulate the Gis beam. This is the only pacing electrode that has been labeled "CE" for use for this indication. Installation of this electrode can be carried out using C315HIS or C304-HIS catheters.[1]
