2026: Defect detection: Machine electrocutes and lights up

In mid-January 2026, Mercedes-Benz announced the recall of new generation CLA hybrid cars. In these vehicles, a defect in electrical wiring was revealed, which provokes the risk of fire.

The problem is due to incorrect connection of the 48V wiring set. This can lead to overheating and ignition. In addition, the risk of electric shock increases.

Mercedes-Benz hybrids turned out to be defective: they shock and light up

A notice from the Federal Automobile Administration transport Germany (KBA) said the defect affects various modifications to CLA vehicles equipped with a 4-cylinder gasoline engine. These are, in particular, versions of the CLA 180 and CLA 200, as well as variants of the CLA 220 and all-wheel drive machines CLA 200 4MATIC and CLA 220 4MATIC.

In total, almost 1,700 vehicles produced between November 17 and December 19, 2025 are subject to recall. On these machines, specialists from service centers will check the wiring and, if necessary, refine it. All work will be carried out free of charge for car owners.

Earlier, Mercedes-Benz announced the recall of almost 93 thousand GLC crossovers due to a structural problem that could increase the risk of injuries in the event of an accident. The defect affects cars with a panoramic roof: they do not provide the proper level of safety for passengers in the rear row of seats in the event of an accident. As reported in the notification of USA the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall includes the cars 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 63 S E, 2024-2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC43 4MATIC, 2023-2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, 2023-2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC and 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e 4MATIC. There is no mention of any injuries related to the issue.[1]
