Metal Jet (the 3D platform - printings)

2018: Announcement of the platform

On September 10, 2018 HP Inc company. submitted the new commercial 3D platform - printings of metal parts of Metal Jet. A new system has all advantages 3D - printings – it cheaper and quicker than traditional methods of casting of metal constructions, but the main thing – it is 50 times more effective than existing solutions for 3D - printing.

According to HP, Metal Jet is development of Multi Jet Fusion technology, selective agglomeration of powder materials. Advantage of Metal Jet over other jet and powder systems is also the economic material consumption and also high performance and reliability of jet heads.

The company already announced cooperation with the supplier of automobile and space GKN Powder Metallurgy component parts and the enterprise of powder metallurgy Parmatech, and among clients of HP there are such companies as Volkswagen automobile concern, the producer of the pumping equipment Wilo and producers of the medical equipment Okay Industries and Primo Medical Group.

Volkswagen uses new technology for production of auxiliary components, such as rings for keys and the plate with names, but finally is going to implement it for production of more serious parts, for example, of fastenings for mirrors and levers of gear shifting. It is supposed that Metal Jet will play an important role in future production of the electric vehicles Volkswagen.

Repeatedly accelerated HP thanks to the Metal Jet platform and reduced the price 3D - printing of metal parts

Since 2019, clients will be able to order parts, loading ready 3D models into the Metal Jet Production Service system, and then engineers of HP will help them with build process. However, HP recognizes that some projects will be incompatible with Metal Jet. Deliveries of serial 3D-printers according to preorders will begin in 2020 at the price of $400,000, and will go on open sale of a system of HP of Metal Jet in 2021.^[1]
