2022: Industrial Metaverse Launch
On November 14, 2022, it became known that the Renault Group auto giant launched the world's first industrial metaverse - a virtual environment that will increase the efficiency of car production and provide significant cost savings.
The project is based on the concept of digital twins. As part of the metaverse, there are exact virtual copies of Renault factories and production lines. The system receives huge streams of data from the enterprises of the group, the supply network of components and the network of shipments. As a result, a comprehensive picture of the state of the Renault ecosystem is formed, which allows you to optimize the work of a particular division.
{{quote 'The metaverse provides real-time surveillance, which increases the flexibility and adaptability of industrial operations, as well as the quality of production and supply chain, "said Jose Vicente de Los Mozos, executive vice president of the Renault industrial group. }} To collect data from its enterprises, Renault has implemented a specialized Industrial Data Management Platform 4.0 (IDM4.0) system based on the Google Cloud. The information will constantly flow into the metaverse, allowing timely adjustments to the production process. This data can be supplemented with sales forecasts and vendor information.
According to Renault Group forecasts, the deployment of the industrial metaverse will provide significant benefits, including savings of approximately $330 million by 2025. It is assumed that this virtual platform will allow the company to reduce the delivery time of products by 60% and reduce the carbon footprint in the production of cars by 50%. In addition, 60% lower warranty costs.[1]
