2023: Product Announcement
On October 19, 2023, the Austrian company Interventional Systems announced the release of the Micromate robotic medical platform. This system allows surgeons to remotely perform various operations with visual control through computed tomography.
Micromate can be used in all kinds of percutaneous procedures, such as biopsy and ablation. The platform is designed to diagnose and treat various diseases of the chest, abdomen and musculoskeletal system. The compact robotic system gives doctors the ability to use their preferred surgical tools.
Micromate's platform is suitable for versatile medical procedures under visual supervision, including placing and manipulating surgical instruments based on acquired radiological data or real-time images with or without optical navigation. Control can be performed manually, using a special joystick, or automatically according to a pre-constructed surgical plan.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reportedly approved the Micromate platform for use in tandem with CT-based optical navigation. The system is also compatible with fluoroscopy. Micromate can be used by both large medical institutions and outpatient centers.
Integrating the Micromate platform into the clinical workflow allows surgeons to perform and monitor operations, confident that the system provides a safe and reliable intervention, says Michael Vogele, CEO of Interventional Systems[1] |
