Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP)

Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) is a packet of the technologies available on a subscription to owners of the solution Software Assurance.

Description

Technologies of virtualization of MDOP help to personalize work, simplify deployment of applications and improve compatibility of applications with the Windows operating system. The packet helps to manage, control and unroll the Windows components, allows to replace approach to recovery of the computer from reactive with preventive, thereby saving time and avoiding emergence of the problems connected with troubleshooting and system recovery.

2013: MDOP 2013 R2

On December 2, 2013 it became known of release of Microsoft of the new version of Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP).

Two basic new features of MDOP 2013 R2 — support of Windows 8.1 and a possibility of virtualization for Office 2013.

As a part of MDOP:

• the Application Virtualization system (App-V) 5.0 with SP2 and Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6 SP3 using which it is possible to create applications available on computers of end users without the need for them to install;

• User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) 2.0 is the corporate solution for user environment facilitating transfer of private papers, settings and applications on different devices;

• BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM) 2.0 с SP1;

• tool kit for diagnostics and recovery (DaRT) 8.1.
