Start of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 in Russia

In September, 2010 Microsoft announced a release of the Russian version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. The international version of a product was announced in 2008. The company explains such delay with labor input of localization under the Russian realities.^[1]

The Microsoft corporation announced a release of the localized Russian version of the Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2009 SP1 enterprise management system (earlier - Navision) having a number of new opportunities. One of the main improvements developers call the role interface (RoleTailored) which includes 21 standard positions which are most often found in the companies: for example, the chief accountant, the chief financial officer, the announcer on production, the company executive and others. Working with a system, each of them will see only information necessary for accomplishment of the duties.

Developers carry new opportunities of the business analysis to other important features of Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2009: the tools based on functionality of the Microsoft SQL Server allow to detail separate indicators in the automatic mode, to generate reports, to reveal trends and to perform monitoring of key indicators of business performance.

Developers also note existence of the improved web services: they allow clients and partners to integrate data and logic from a system with other applications to support different scenarios.

In the world market of Nav 2009 it was announced in November, 2008. Such big time gap between emergence of the international and Russian versions in the company is explained with the fact that localization of a product according to the Russian tax, accounting, personnel and financial realities requires considerable labor costs. According to representatives of Microsoft, it in particular concerns a legislative part - changes in the law in Russia happen much more often and in very short periods in comparison with other countries.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2

On December 20, 2010 Microsoft made announced a release of the new version of a management system of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2.

The new version includes a possibility of remote connection to the database of a system, ready integration into Microsoft Dynamics CRM, expansion of opportunities for a hosting, support of virtualization of applications for implementation of "a private cloud". As differences from the previous version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 have generally technology character, migration on new Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 is performed using installation of new components.

"The main advantage of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a resource management in real time, i.e. control of cost value, profitability, delivery dates, statuses of calculations, loadings of capacities and also maintaining accounting, tax and other types of accounting, – Vladimir Vodianov, the director of Microsoft Dynamics in Russia says. – We save small and medium-sized companies from many problems, they do not need to integrate among themselves many bases, everything is implemented in one business application. The new release gives additional opportunities for management. For example, now it is possible to be connected to a system far off, using including the mobile Internet. Microsoft constantly implements the innovative technologies in the solutions for business, and now it belongs also to cloud computing. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 opens access to the most modern technologies, saving at the same time unique simplicity of implementation and operation".

According to the development manager from the Copenhagen Microsoft Development Center Yury Belenky, already present version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 gives separate cloud opportunities: direct connection to a remote server via the Internet, support of technology of virtualization of App-V and hosting in a private or public cloud. However the next version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 7 which will be unrolled also on a cloud platform of Microsoft Azure promises to become really cloud. Besides, in it 64-bit servers will be supported for the first time, there will be SharePoint- and Web clients.

Systems capabilities

• Integration into Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Modern dynamics of business requires continuous access to comprehensive customer information and suppliers. The built-in integration into Microsoft Dynamics CRM allows to avoid data entry duplication, and sellers can see detailed information on contracts, the prices and existence of goods. Integration as with locally set CRM system (on-premise) and used in the form of an online service (CMR online) is possible.

• Remote connection to the database via the Internet, including on channels of mobile communication. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 supports direct connection via the Internet. Remote users work in a standard application of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 and with all necessary tools which are offered by a business system as though they worked through corporate network. Thus, additional developments of specialized interfaces are not required. Connection is possible including on the mobile Internet. It cardinally simplifies the organization of remote access for the ERP system and costs for its implementation even in comparison with terminal options.

• Support of virtualization of applications of App-V. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 can be unrolled using Microsoft Application Virtualization technology (App-V). Virtualization reduces costs for IT as deployment of jobs and updating of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is completely automated and is performed on a centralized basis. Virtualization can be applied also in case of lease of the application at external suppliers (SaaS). The supplier of service unrolls virtual environment of the application for the customer, connection of users to whom is carried out automatically.

• Close integration with Windows 7. Access from the operating system to the specific client, function or the report is made literally for one click. Windows 7 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 is created by the list of often used data and functions which is available by the right button on an application label.

• Visualization of business data. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 gives new visualization tools of business data. It increases productivity of work and facilitates complete perception of a situation. For example, data visualization on clients can be carried out by couple of values: sales volume and profitability.

The new business system of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 is also available within the new price offer announced at the beginning of December, 2010.
