The Microsoft company submitted preliminary version of the new version of the corporate platform for virtualization of jobs of Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V) 2.0. The updated MED-V platform accelerates migration of large enterprises on Windows 7 client operating system, providing full compatibility with legacy applications.
The beta of the MED-V 2.0 platform facilitates input of passwords, collective access to USB devices and integration of legacy applications into folders and printers. Besides, MED-V 2.0 offers much more options for start of old web applications work with which requires the Internet Explorer 6 browser.
The MED-V platform helps customers to make long-term plans for the most difficult applications which have no full compatibility with Windows 7 and require too big costs for migration at the moment. The MED-V platform provides transparent access to applications, consolidates an obsolete equipment and provides to users access to legacy applications within a unified working environment.
The MED-V 2.0 platform is already checked for compatibility with technology of virtualization of desktops Microsoft App-V that allows to unroll and control the virtualized applications in working environments based on MED-V 2.0 Beta technology. Besides, the close attention is paid to the improved integration with the corporate system of centralized operation by configurations of the machines System Center Configuration Manager. In particular, working environments of MED-V 2.0 can be extended through the different systems of electronic delivery of the software of ESD (Electronic Software Distribution), including the SCCM platform (System Center Configuration Manager) of version 2007 R2 or is newer.
In the version of MED-V 2.0 beta users can cache the password not to enter it repeatedly in the course of work with a set of applications. New tools of a packet MED-V 2.0 allow IT administrators to redirect legacy web applications (which work only in IE6 or IE7) on other domains or ports. The improved separated access to USB devices allows to address removable drives or reader devices for smart cards both from client applications, and from the server systems. A system allows to integrate legacy applications with such folders as Desktop and "My documents" and also with the printers installed in a system.
The packet of MED-V extends as a part of the MDOP set (Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack).
