2019: Release of the platform

In March, 2019 Microsoft released new research system for the analysis of huge volumes of biomedical data. The solution under the name Station B is created in cooperation with researchers from Princeton University of the USA and two British companies - Oxford BioMedica (specializes in gene and cellular therapy) and Synthace (develops the software for scientists).

Station B represents a set of the integrated computer programs which analyze huge volumes of biomedical data. Developers note that Station B will allow to make more experiments and to estimate bigger amount of data, than ever. The platform can make the scientist recommendations about carrying out researches, including in the field of gene therapy.

Cooperation in Princeton University will be directed to studying and fight against formation of biofilms — bacterial stratifications which collect on a surface of cages and other educations and lead to different problems, beginning from diseases of the person and finishing with industrial pollution.

At this time Oxford BioMedica will deal with problems of genetic engineering. This company is one of world leaders in the field of production of "lentivirusny vectors" — the viruses used in gene therapy for transfer of necessary DNA in cells of patients. Search of the best method of production of vectors in cellular cultures is substantially carried out by a trial and error method, but Station B will help to find the best combination of genetic material and environmental conditions and to design them. Early products of gene therapy cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Developers hope that the Station B platform considerably will reduce the cost of the vital procedures and will make them available to bigger number of patients.[1]
