StorSimple is locally mounted storage system of SAN.

A system is integrated with Microsoft Azure, thereby creating the hybrid solution for information storage, reservation, archiving and disaster recovery.

Description

StorSimple is established on the failsafe disk array of a corporate class from Xyratex producer.

The three-storied architecture includes solid state drives, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and a connectivity to public "cloud". A system defines - on what tier to store data, depending on use frequency. Regularly used information is placed in solid state drives and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS). That that is more rare – in "cloud".

2014: Availability in Russia

On April 2, 2014 the Microsoft company announced availability of the solution StorSimple in the territory of Russia.

The solution Microsoft StorSimple is available to the Russian customers through two the authorized partners: Softline and I-Teco.

"Today the key role in the choice of DWH is solved by not only performance, but also balance between the cost, reliability of storage and functionality. Besides, the storage system should have a certain level of automation in terms of solution integration in the current IT infrastructure and simplifications of administration and data management. The hybrid Solution StorSimple can replace in whole or in part traditional DWH for accomplishment of such scenarios as corporate file storage, a cloud back-end for locally set SharePoint, problems of storage for virtual machines, storages of volume archives (for example, videos or records of calls) and also to provide backup and recovery of these data after failures. At the same time reliability and fault tolerance of the cloud storage of Azure which uses StorSimple are much higher, than at any local type of storage", - Sofya Danilina, the sales manager, department of Cloud computing, Softline told.

The prices of StorSimple start from $40 thousand for the equipment and from $6 thousand a year - ^[1].
