System Center Orchestrator 2012 - simplifies process of automation of problems of system administration.
A system earlier being called Opalis, is purchased by Microsoft corporation in 2009. It provides a simple order of creation of complex circuits of automation.
If it is required to define whether this or that disturbing notification is recorded in the event log Windows, it is not necessary to make several code lines of PowerShell. Instead Orchestrator is applied. The user locates on him this or that element concerning the traced event configures this element that it initiated a certain notification and connects to other element which will perform the set operation in relation to the mentioned task.

Orchestrator is the full solution, it provides accomplishment not only basic problems of automation. Sets of transactions (runbooks) of a packet Orchestrator can be configured so that they were started in case of emergence in event magazines of these or those records and that it is even more important - after issue of notifications the manager Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager. It is possible to automate process from beginning to end, using the Orchestrator procedure which is started through the notification, finds a task in a control system of tasks, executes difficult transactions for elimination of the problem initiating the notification adds data to a task in the system of tracking of tasks and then closes a task. The notification is allowed, the task is registered and closed — and all this occurs without direct participation of the administrator.
All components of a packet Orchestrator can be executed on the Windows Server 2008 R2 systems. Work of Orchestrator requires 1 Gbyte of RAM (2 Gbytes are recommended), 200 MB of free disk space, the dual core (at least) processor. Like other products of the System Center 2012 family, the packet of Orchestrator can be executed on the virtual machine. The Runbook Designer and Runbook Tester components can be also executed on the Windows systems 7 Enterprise Editions or Ultimate Edition.
For data storage of a configuration the packet of Orchestrator needs access to the database SQL Server 2008 R2. For ensuring functioning of the Orchestrator console it will also be necessary to set Microsoft.NET Framework 4 and Silverlight 4.
