To start use of Mind The Gap employees need to load the application on the smartphone and to set desirable distance according to government directives. At operation of the solution users receive the notification when other user of the application appears in too short distance. Functioning of Mind The Gap does not require active connection to the Internet as the application is used by Bluetooth and unheard superhigh-frequency sounds for calculation of distance between phones. Hack Partners said that the accuracy of calculations is 6-8 cm.

The Mind The Gap application does not keep track of location of users, does not collect confidential data and does not transfer to the third parties, developers claim.[1]
