2025: Launching

The first river electric wheeled vessel "Minin" was launched at the production site of the Chkalovskaya shipyard in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The ship is fully designed and built in the region by the GAMA Group of Companies and Chkalovskaya Shipyard JSC for the transportation of passengers on intra-regional routes. This was reported by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region on November 7, 2025.

In parallel, a second vessel of this type was laid, which was named "Pozharsky." Deputy Prime Minister of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Igor Zotov noted the symbolism that a new stage in the development of electric ships is being opened by the names of legendary fellow countrymen.

The route Nizhny Novgorod - Bor is considered a promising direction for navigation of the new Minin and Pozharsky vessels. This is one of the most popular destinations for river traffic within the region with high passenger traffic.

The passenger capacity of a river electric vessel is 250 people. The Minin's range reaches 6 hours at a speed of 12 kilometers per hour. The travel time in one direction will be 15-20 minutes.

The vessel is equipped with a fast charging function, which allows you to replenish the energy of batteries in 15 minutes from the coastal station during the landing of passengers. This time is enough to compensate for energy consumption in one flight to and from Bohr.

Sergey Italians, General Director of the Meta-Com shipbuilding company, announced plans to complete electrical installation work and installation of ship systems in the near future. During the winter period, all finishing work will be performed, and the ship will go for testing at the beginning of navigation.

The head of production of Chkalovskaya Shipyard JSC Yevgeny Aleksashin said that the Minin vessel was built in five months. He noted that as with any head ship, a number of technical issues arose with customers and designers, but everything was quickly resolved.

Aleksashin stressed that the ships of the new generation combine environmental friendliness and comfort, work almost silently. Compared to diesel counterparts, they are much more economical and environmentally friendly in operation.[1]
