Mirantis Cloud Platform (MCP) is the open cloud platform integrating in itself the following stack of technologies: OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, OpenContrail and Calico SDN, DriveTrain and StackLight. Provides single solution for systems management without operating system (Bare metal), virtual machines and containers.

2017: Inclusion of functionality of Containers-as-a-Service

At the end of September, 2017 the Mirantis company provided in the latest version of the cloud platform functionality "A container as service" (Containers-as-a-Service, CaaS) which can not only work in private clouds based on OpenStack, but also start Kubernetes in a public cloud of Amazon Web Services (AWS).[1]

CaaS

In the whole Kubernetes simplifies management of hybrid clouds based on AWS, OpenStack and "naked iron". So, thanks to Kubernetes application the MCP platform allows to manage the multicloud self-serviced Kubernetes clusters by means of functionality of Containers-as-a-Service.

MCP CaaS supports Kubernetes in private clouds of OpenStack, public clouds of AWS or both in those, and in others. According to representatives of Mirantis, it is also going to add support and other options of public clouds. Presumably, it will be Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

DriveTrain

CaaS, as well as all other MCP components, uses DriveTrain — the tool kit open source for configuring, deployment and management of lifecycle intended for continuous integration and continuous issue of results (CI/CD). In MCP he allows the enterprises to make Kubernetes the standard.

In the last release the MCP company updated DriveTrain. In addition to Kubernetes support, these tools allow to set updates of software-defined networks OpenStack Ocata and OpenContrail.

StackLight

Besides, in this release StackLight — the joint center of management Mirantis with the open code for automation of transactions, monitoring of the distributed maintaining magazines and issue of disturbing messages expanding abilities to manage lifecycle is optimized.

Now StackLight includes the DevOps portal which provides the overview of the MCP environment. By Mirantis estimates, the given aggregated tool kit is capable to reduce complexity of the cloud transactions Day 2 thanks to the services and panel boards allowing a message statistics of availability, magazines, continuous testing, to remove indicators, to send notices.

Web interface

The latest version of MCP includes also simple web interface in use for management of Kubernetes clusters. It facilitates to developers creation of own containers, managed C Kubernetes help, and control over them.
