Moblin (abbr. from Mobile Linux) — the specialized GNU/Linux distribution kit intended for start on the ultraportable devices equipped with the Intel processor Atom. The Moblin project was initiated by Intel in 2007, and later is transferred to the jurisdiction of Linux Foundation though engineers of Intel still participate in development.

As a basis for the graphical interface Moblin developers use practices of the GNOME Mobile project which they adapt for small screens of netbooks. The graphical interface is expected netbooks with the diagonal of the screen from 7 to 12 inches and is based on Clutter library, actively uses video card resources. The Moblin components work over OS infrastructure that allows to adapt easily them for any Linux of a distribution kit. Such projects and the companies as gOS, Mandriva, Turbolinux, Novell, Ubuntu/Canonical, Fedora, etc. joined an initiative of Moblin. The Moblin project became means for consolidation of efforts of developers on creation of a program stack and different program components for subnotebooks and mobile the Internet of devices (MID).
