2018: Release of the application
On January 15, 2019 the Medtronic company announced release of mobile application of MyCareLink Heart for pacemakers thanks to which the smartphone of the user will be able to replace the bedside monitor. Medtronic provided innovation as the first similar mobile application in own way.
The application is compatible to all pacemakers of the company supporting BlueSync technology. According to representatives of the company, the data collected using pacemakers with BlueSync support are ciphered and go to CareLink network of the company through mobile application that allows doctors to trace patients and to receive notifications about clinically significant events, eliminating need for special bedside monitors and other technologies of remote monitoring.
The application gives to patients an opportunity to browse the transferred information and to receive confirmations of transfers, to trace vital indicators and physical activity, to display remaining period of service of the battery and the directory of symptoms which should guard the doctor and the patient.[1]
The representative of Medtronic noted that doctors will for the first time get direct data access of pacemakers thanks to devices which patients use every day, such as smartphones and tablets. Advantages of remote monitoring can potentially increase efficiency of interaction of patients with attending physicians.
The representative of the medical consolidation Cone Health from Northern Carolina considers that mobile application of MyCareLink Heart represents technology break in the field of monitoring of these pacemakers. Implementation of convenient and safe data transmission and a simple information access, such as battery life of a pacemaker, is capable to change completely the relation of patients to maintenance of the health.[2]
