2021: Announcement of Nanox.ARC digital X-ray system
In early April 2021, Israeli, startup Nanox inspired by the science fiction series Star Trek, released a digital X-ray machine with a futuristic design.
Nanox.ARC's digital X-ray system looks like a bio-bed from the Star Trek series thanks to the replacement of bulky arrays of rotating tubes with its own cold cathode equipment. According to Nanox, such a replacement will reduce costs in all areas and could potentially make digital radiography a more accessible method of examination around the world.
Nanox uses a digital system that can do without traditional massive parts, so the only moving element is an X-ray ring that scans the whole body while the patient lies motionless on the couch. Nanox will be able to begin distribution of its new X-ray system in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to a statement by Ran Polyakine, chairman and CEO of the company. In the US, Nanox made a deal with USARAD to deploy an initial order of 3,000 systems nationwide.
Nanox introduced Nanox.ARC technology in early 2020, and by the end of August 2020 raised a total of $110 million to develop a new system from a number of investors, including the Taiwanese company Foxconn and South Korean SK Telecom. Now Nanox intends to get permission to sell the Nanox.ARC system with several radiation sources, as well as the Nanox.CLOUD cloud software platform, which not only stores the readings of the company's X-ray devices, but also uses AI to analyze them, sends them to radiologists for further consideration and manages billing and reporting.[1]
