2025: Opening pre-orders
Norwegian startup 1X Technologies has opened pre-orders for the humanoid NEO robot, capable of performing home tasks and communicating with the owner. This was reported by the press service of 1X Technologies on October 28, 2025.
At the start, NEO will be partially controlled by the company's operator via remote connection. The cost of the robot is $20,000.
The NEO humanoid robot is positioned as a home assistant for simple assignments. The device is capable of opening doors, folding dishes, making a bed or looking for items lost in the house.
NEO understands a person's speech and knows how to maintain dialogue. The robot is able to suggest a recipe for the dish and help choose the necessary spices. To find answers, the device exits Internet through Wi-Fi or. 5G
However, the use of NEOs is limited to premises. The robot cannot be released into the street, since moisture and dirt can disrupt its work. The limitation is due to the design features of the device.
The height of the NEO is 168 cm with a weight of 30 kg. The manufacturer specifically used light materials so that the robot did not pose a danger to humans. The device was "dressed" in a turtleneck for a harmonious appearance at home.
NEO sees the world with two cameras of 8 megapixels each. On the side of the head are speakers that act as ears. The vision system provides navigation in space and object recognition.
The autonomy of the robot is about four hours. After discharging, the NEO independently connects to the charger. Running time without recharging depends on the intensity of the tasks performed.
It is assumed that the robot will be able to perform many tasks on its own. Some teams will require the participation of a special 1X Technologies operator. The employee of the company will connect to the NEO remotely and control it using a VR helmet and controllers.[1]
