2024: Product Announcement

In early September 2024, the Norwegian firm 1X, supported by OpenAI (the developer of ChatGPT), introduced a bipedal butler robot called Neo Beta. This housemate looks a lot like a person, and the clothing in the form of a sports cloth jumpsuit completely hides the mechanical structure.

The robot is about 165 cm tall and weighs 30 kg. At the same time, it can lift loads weighing up to 20 kg. Neo Beta is capable of walking at speeds up to 4 km/h, as well as running at speeds up to 12 km/h. The time of operation on a single charge of the battery pack varies from two to four hours, depending on the load and tasks performed.

The machine is based on a combination of robotic technologies and artificial intelligence. The robot received manipulator hands with five fingers, which, according to the developers, are designed to capture and hold a variety of items. Thus, Neo Beta is suitable for a wide range of home tasks. Thanks to AI algorithms, the robot learns over time, adjusting to the needs and habits of its owner. Users can interact with the assistant through natural spoken language.

It is noted that the robot is created with an eye to ensuring maximum safety, since it will have to work in close contact with people. The machine is able to recognize its physical environment and act in accordance with the situation. In this case, the remote operator, if necessary, can take control of the robot movements. 1X intends to organize mass production of Neo Beta at its own facility in Moss (Norway). There is no information about the estimated cost of the robot as of early September 2024.[1]
