Trident is the tool of Netapp open source for automatic selection of resources for container environments.

2018: Support of Netapp Cloud Volumes ONTAP and multicloud environments

The company NetApp announced on November 1, 2018 an exit of updates of Trident, the solution for the automated selection of resources solving problems with persistent storage for such container environments as Docker, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. The solution got support NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP, backup and recovery using copies of Netapp Snapshot and also multicloud environments. The product is available to loading with thePub.

According to developers, the updated Trident:

• Supports a complete product line of Netapp: NetApp of HCI, ONTAP, SolidFire, NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP and many others.
• Offers extensive production support for permanent storage on available container platforms, providing independent storage and data management in native language of a container.
• Increases efficiency, simplifying and automating constancy of data storage in containers, eliminating need for handwork on their selection.
• "Creation-testing-deployment" provides flexible processes of a chain, reducing need for human intervention in these processes, thereby increasing quality of work of software and satisfaction of customers.
• Increases the sequence of data and security thanks to scalable solutions for management of containers.
