Orbi is the 3-band solution for the organization of a wireless network Wi-Fi for the house or small office.

2017: Version of Pro

On August 31, 2017 company NETGEAR, Inc. provided Wi-Fi the Netgear Orbi Pro system.

The three-band wireless Orbi Pro system with the patented Fastlane3 technology is focused on use at offices of business centers, restaurants, shops, small hotels, auto repair shops, etc.

The employee of the organization without technical training can independently configure the device, without using a wire. Orbi Pro allows to create three separate networks Wi-fi and all users remain connected to network, and data transmission is safe.

Thanks to features of design the product will fit into any office interior. It can be mounted is reserved at office and will not draw attention. There is a possibility of wall and ceiling mounting.

The NETGEAR FastLane3 technology consists of three components:

• three-band Wi-Fi,
• the selected Wi-fi network from the satellite to the router
• the optimized construction of antennas.

Orbi Pro Tri-Band is a part of the system the AC3000 router and the additional satellite designed for a covering of the area more than 450 m ² or up to 900 m ² with two additional satellites. Possibilities of setup and management simplify adding of the Orbi Pro satellites for a scope of the big areas. Orbi Pro provides high-performance functions of the router of a corporate class, network performance and reliability for business.

Orbi Pro is delivered with three preconfigured Wi-fi networks for separation of traffic:

• administrative network for business applications,
• network for access for employees to the Internet
• guest network for visitors.

The administrative network is intended for the organization of access to infrastructure:

• to servers,
• to the VoIP systems or computers with confidential data. Access to gigabit ports Ethernet to Orbi for connection of wire devices is provided.

The network for employees supports BYOD devices ("Bring own device") for which Internet access is necessary and do not need access to systems in administrative network or to gigabit ports Ethernet. It has SSID which differs from administrative network and its password can be changed in process of departure of employees.

The guest network is completely isolated from two other networks. It is focused on use by clients and other visitors. Their devices get an Internet access through the portal of access only for limited time appointed by the network administrator.

Orbi Pro supports up to 40 simultaneous connections for work of employees and clients on the Internet.

By November 1, 2017 the Orbi Pro AC3000 system will be available in Russia.

2016: The Wi-Fi-system for the house

On August 30, 2016 the Netgear company announced start in mass production of Orbi - three-band system Wi-Fi for the house.

Orbi creates a coverage Wi-Fi-network with the maximum speed of the Internet, guaranteeing a single wireless network and simplicity of connection.

As a part of Orbi set two devices:

The Orbi router is connected to the Internet, and the Orbi satellite (Orbi Satellite) is placed most closer to the physical center of the premises. In a few minutes devices will provide safe, highly productive 3-band Wi-Fi network indoors or office.

The technology of three-band Wi-Fi (Tri-Band Wi-Fi) implemented in Orbi supports special channel of 1.7 Gbps in the range of 5 GHz for communication between Orbi devices. It allows to select two other channels for connection of devices in rooms and in adjacent territories (the cellar, a garage, a personal plot). The technology guarantees a reliable covering a wireless network without "dead" zones and the maximum speed of the Internet in any point.

The repeater of Orbi was equipped with LED illumination: it shines in different color at the first connection with the repeater, depending on signal quality.

The Orbi Wi-Fi-system with the router and the satellite can easily cover the area to 370 square meters, in our case is 2 - the 3-storey house and the section adjoining it, i.e. the Orbi-device is convenient as for the cottage construction widespread over the country, an apartment house now, and for small offices and the organizations with the number of employees till 30-40 people. In Russia Wi-Fi the Netgear Orbi system with the Wi-Fi-router and one satellite will appear until the end of the year. Devices are equipped with four ports Gigabit Ethernet. In the router of 4 GB flash memory and 512 MB of the RAM, six internal antennas. Sizes of the body 169.4 x 60 x 225.8 mm. Weight of 890 g.
