Netgear ReadyNAS OS

ReadyNAS OS is specialized OS for protection of the stored data with use of automatic expansion of volume on the basis of XRAID2 technology. OS is held for use in NAS devices (network storages) of the ReadyNAS series.

OS provides continuous data protection with unlimited number of instant pictures. Functions of antivirus protection and enciphering are included in the delivery.

ReadyNAS OS 6.2

On December 10, 2014 the Netgear company announced release of the new version of the ReadyNAS operating system (OS 6.2).

The solution is improved by the simple interface in use. A system is focused on the centralized storage and management of digital files, turning on a photo, the music, video and other document types. The new ReadyNAS OS operating system equally well approaches, both for home users, and for representatives of the corporate sector.

As a part of updating regarding data protection, backup, synchronization and cloud functions.

Advantages

Protection of files is provided at five levels. New opportunities of OS will add the existing feature set. Among them there is an automatic RAID protection at failures and hard errors in work of disks, rollback and data recovery to a certain point in time (thanks to unique technology of instant pictures of the file system), free anti-virus check in real time, remote replication in a cloud or on the second ReadyNAS-device.

ReadyNAS OS will provide automatic backup of the necessary files from the devices working running OS Windows or Mac. New OS does ReadyNAS storage systems Netgear by the first in the class devices using which it is possible to perform a permanent backup and synchronization of data from any selected folders on the PC in appropriate sections NAS.

The full support of Time Machine Apple for Mac-devices is implemented. There was a possibility of creation of separate virtual partitions for each user that it is also for the first time implemented on NAS devices.

Shared access to content never was before so simple and safe, as from new ReadyNAS OS. In the new version of the operating system the Netgear company implemented a possibility of full setup and device management based on cloud services. This only NAS solution which suggests to try 100% "cloud" setup without the need for loading of the client software program. Using Netgear ReadyCLOUD users will receive the uniform, unified web interface at access to ReadyNAS-devices from the house or far off. At the same time it is possible to manage all range of opportunities of OS and network DWH using any device connected to the Internet (including, smartphones, etc.).

Among additional functions:

• easy installation of disks,
• possibility of their hot swap.

There was an opportunity in one click of "mouse" to unload the file for the general access and to receive the working link for friends or colleagues. If there is a need for power saving, the device can slow down the disk spindle rotational speed (number of revolutions per minute). The ReadyNAS 6.2 operating system integrated in itself possibilities of popular cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive.

The solution of Netgear will allow to take all advantage of cloud services of the company without the need for monthly payment for their use.
