2023: Product Announcement

At the end of September 2023, the American company CraniUS, specializing in medical technologies, announced the development of the NeuroPASS system, designed to deliver drugs directly to the brain. The proposed solution allows to bypass the blood-brain barrier. The product is suitable for the therapy of a wide range of diseases - from neurodegenerative disorders to malignant tumors.

The main obstacle in the treatment of ailments affecting the brain is the mentioned blood-brain barrier. It protects nerve tissue from circulating microorganisms, toxins and other substances. The barrier performs the function of a highly selective filter, protecting the brain from harmful influences. At the same time, it prevents the penetration of drugs, which makes therapy difficult. The NeuroPASS system solves the problem.

NeuroPASS Operation Diagram

The new technology provides for the use of a special wireless implant that performs a controlled infusion of therapeutic substances directly into the brain. The device is almost imperceptible under the skin of the skull. Pressure gradients are used to distribute drugs with high accuracy in a certain area of the brain, which allows you to overcome the limitations of passive diffusion. The device is charged wirelessly. In addition, it is possible to replenish the reservoir with the therapeutic substance, thereby providing treatment for a long time.
