2019: Parachute System Certification

In January 2019, it was revealed that the company had Indemnis developed an emergency system for unmanned aerial vehicle DJI Inspire 2 to help keep people on the ground safe by slowly dropping the drone by parachute. The system, called Nexus, is the first of its kind to meet the new adopted international security standard (Nexus was the first to satisfy it) and allows drones to fly over people safely.

To obtain serial release approval, the development underwent a series of tests, which included 45 functional tests with five different failure scenarios. Thus, the company ensures that the parachute opens every time at the right time.

Drones with a breakdown will descend by parachute. Standard approved

Sensors built into the Nexus system track the drone's tilt and vibrations. When flight anomalies are detected, a parachute is opened, designed so that it does not contact the body or rotors that could damage it.

Flying a drone in a crowded place carries risks: it can fall and injure a person. For this reason, the Federal Aviation Administration issues permission for the drone to fly over crowded places only if the company can prove that mechanisms are provided to help keep passers-by safe. There are already cells that can orbit the rotors to avoid cutting anyone, for example, but they don't save you from being hit when a drone falls. The parachute in this case provides a slow landing that excludes impact and allows people to move aside.

A Nexus is a parachute launcher launched automatically if a drone suddenly begins to deviate from normal or fall. She opens the parachute in 30 milliseconds at 144 km/h, quickly supplying air through the tube so that the parachute does not have time to contact the drone body and propellers. To date, Indemnis offers the Nexus system for Inspire 2, and by the end of 2019 plans to launch a similar one for the Matrice 200 and Matrice 600 series drones, according to a January press release.[1]
