2018: The school student from Yekaterinburg invented the device for rehabilitation of people after a stroke

As Zdrav.Expert Daniil Novik, the 17-year-old school student from Yekaterinburg became known on December 7, 2018, got a gold medal at the International exhibition of young inventors in Delhi for development of a neural glove for rehabilitation of people after a stroke which analogs for December, 2018 are not present around the world.

The glove with electronics is put on the patient's hand after a stroke, and by means of the built-in sensors from it resistance force of skin and the electromyogram (force of muscular movements) are read out. In the first mode the glove is connected to the computer, and by means of the special program the patient trains the movements of fingers. In the second mode when the sick person is completely immobilized, the glove with the hand which is put on in it by means of magnets fastens to a robotic hand. The robot reads out signals from sensors and moves the fingers, giving the movement to the patient. At the same time he is able to distinguish the speech of the person and on signals to change force of movements, Daniil specified.

The invention "Neyk-Adaptivny the neuroexercise machine" — a hardware and software system for recovery of muscular activity and development of small motility after a stroke is called. By recognition of the inventor, he this complex calls Rezomatrits.

The complex consists of two devices. One — directly the glove, a special tool for reading of parameters and drawing up the diagnosis. And the second device in the form of a box — the exercise machine for development of fingers of hands.

Probably, the most difficult from beginning to end the project is a huge diligence. I made about six projects from scratch, and I worked on all this one and a half years. Did everything after lessons at school, it was necessary to re-read a lot of scientific literature, to study biology, medicine, thanks to the father that he helped me with everything. Yes, it was hard, but I first of all wanted to help people — the young inventor from Yekaterinburg said.

According to Daniil, he began to be engaged in technical creativity since six years, and in nine years participated with the invention in a competition in a race of the robots moving on the line. In 2013 he invented the adaptive helmet for astronauts changing lighting depending on a planet range then designed the builder-researcher's robot for missions on Long. As a result thought of creation of a glove which could bring benefit on Earth – to the people who had a stroke.

On a question of why it began to be engaged in this development, Daniil told:

I faced this problem when we were told about rehabilitation of people after a stroke and how there takes place therapy. Yes, there are exercise machines, but they do not allow to read out, for example, a number of parameters which are necessary for the qualitative diagnosis. Why this subject mentioned? It seemed to me socially important and relevant. And still I saw, learned that I similar exercise machines quite expensive and tried to process my project for control of robots (already I had it) to the aid of such people after a stroke to make it more economic, simple in use and to implement a special technique for rehabilitation of the person.

As the participant of change of the regional center for talented youth under the name "Golden ratio" in August, 2017 Daniil constructed group of robots who monitor security of the enterprise, and then there implemented systems which monitor also the state of health of the person. Thus, according to him, invented as a result the device allowing to communicate to the person with others "through thoughts" developed the electric circuit necessary for this project.

Initially the task of this device was to read out a number of bioparameters which are necessary for tracking of the state of health of workers at the enterprises (gas, in gas storages) where the person can badly feel, and a system should identify that the help and support is necessary for the person. As a result this system developed into the project for control of the equipment — robots who directly work in proximity from the person and should be safe. And then I was invited in Delhi as experienced pupil to make the project. But there I already provided a glove for rehabilitation of people after a stroke — Daniil told of the course of development of the device for rehabilitation of people after a stroke.
