2024: Product Announcement
On February 22, 2024, the American corporation Nikola announced the start of mass production and deliveries of the world's first trucks equipped with a hydrogen power plant. Such trucks have zero emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere during operation.
Nikola tractors are equipped with fuel cells using hydrogen. During operation, the system generates electricity to power electric motors, and the only byproduct is water vapor, which does no harm to the environment.
It is noted that the volume of the first batch of serial hydrogen trucks amounted to 42 cars. Of these, 35 copies were sent to dealers, and Nikola reserved the remaining seven for itself - in order to test and demonstrate the capabilities of trucks to potential customers. Customers as of the end of February 2024 include Biagi Bros, IMC Logistics, Duncan and Sons Lines, Alberta Motor Transport and Coyote Container. Moreover, Coyote Containers was able to travel on a hydrogen truck approximately 1,400 km long at just one gas station.
Nikola has proven that it can design, produce and supply hydrogen fuel cell trucks, the report said. |
In addition, Nikola announced that by the end of the second or the beginning of the third quarter of 2024, it will return to customers upgraded Tre series battery trucks, which were recalled due to the risk of fire. Battery packs had to be replaced on these machines. After all customers get their trucks back, Nikola will begin upgrading those Tre copies that are in the company's own warehouses. By the end of 2024, these cars will also be transferred to commercial customers.[1]
