2021: Launch Service Enablement Platform

Nokia On March 31, 2021, the company announced the launch of its Service Enablement Platform (SEP), a commercial solution for software-configurable radio networks based on (artificial intelligence AI) and (machine learning MO) in the Open RAN (O-RAN) ecosystem. Nokia SEP is launched with Nokia's x-RIC applications, including Advanced Traffic Steering and Anomaly Detection, which are being tested and tested by the largest mobile operators in March 2021. communications

Nokia SEP is a platform that combines an intelligent real-time RAN controller (RIC) on a single platform and distributed cloud computing at the border of the network (MEC). SEP enables innovative mobile use cases. With minimal delay in information transfer, the Nokia SEP platform improves optimization by automating in a closed loop and increases the speed and flexibility of service deployment. In addition, the platform offers programmability using AI/MO technologies implemented in applications xApps an intelligent RIC controller. xApps applications allow you to create services and provide efficient real-time optimization of RAN, as well as adapt RAN for vertical markets. This is the only platform that uses the capabilities of RIC and MEC to obtain analytics and implement innovations and can be adapted to the specific requirements of the carrier or enterprise.

With the use of optimized AirFrame Nokia servers, the SEP platform can run on a common infrastructure with Cloud RAN and other virtualized network features. AirFrame Open Edge offers a secure and high-performance cloud infrastructure with minimal environmental impact, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

The platform is launched with xApps applications, a set of Nokia RIC plugins that provide communication service providers with advanced control over the operation of 5G wireless networks, including the Advanced Traffic Steering application, which implements an AI/MO-based optimization algorithm that dynamically improves the efficiency of traffic distribution in the radio network. In addition, the platform will include the Anomaly Detection application, which using machine learning quickly identifies and classifies cases of abnormal RAN behavior. SEP supports xApps applications from different providers.
