Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP)

The Nuage Networks company proposes to customers the finished cloud network solution. Nuage Networks integrates opportunities for security and virtualization of platforms Citrix F5, HP and Palo Alto Networks with the high-scalable platform of the virtualized services of Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) and creates the complete solution on delivery of network services for multi-user cloud data processing centers. This solution separates and abstracts processes of determination and creation of network services of DPC using three major elements: the controller of the virtualized services of Virtualized Services Controller (VSC), a directory of the virtualized services of Virtualized Services Directory (VSD) and the mechanism of virtual routing and switching of Virtual Routing and Switching Engine (VRS). All three elements will be ready to tests in April, 2013.

In April, 2013 Nuage Networks (Alcatel-Lucent), engaged in development of solutions for software-defined networks (software defined networking, SDN), presented the open software solution directed to elimination in networks of the data processing centers (DPC) of the main restrictions interfering distribution of cloud services. The platform of the virtualized services of Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) will allow the enterprises of health care, banking sector, municipal services and other industries and also the web companies and telecom operators to scale packages of proposals of cloud services, providing instant secure access to them to a great number of customers.

Tests of the Nuage Networks VSP platform were passed in the spring of 2013 in Europe and North America. Will test: the British supplier of cloud services of Exponential-e, the French telecom operator of SFR, the Canadian telecom operator of TELUS and the leading American service provider of health care – the Medical center of the university of Pittsburgh (UPMC). Commercial availability of the platform is planned for the middle of 2013.

Demand for cloud computing and custodial services of data grows thanks to both individual to subscribers, and corporate users. Modern data processing centers are well equipped in terms of information technologies. Operators of DPC can add or change almost instantly virtual servers and storage systems according to requests of consumers.

But modern networks are not in time behind these changes. At high capacity they have no necessary flexibility for effective use of the available resources. Management of network resources still requires detailed technical planning, difficult processes of connection of users to computing resources and storage systems, manual configuring of the equipment. SDN helps to solve this problem. According to forecasts of IDC, the size of the market of SDN will grow from 360 million dollars in 2013 to 3.7 billion dollars by 2016.

The companies offering services of SDN differently enter the market. Unlike the majority of the solutions SDN of first generation which only partially cope with the specified problem the Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) platform is the complete solution. It automates all DPC network, creating the protected "quanta" (a part of the resources selected discretely for accomplishment of a separate task) for each customer. As a result time necessary for selection of network resources is reduced from several days to several minutes. VSP is also scaled for support of very big data processing centers supporting thousands of customer companies with thousands of users in everyone. Thus, this platform is suitable for the large enterprises, the web companies and telecom operators delivering the services through public, private and hybrid clouds.

Nuage Networks VSP platform:
