2018: Announcement

On September 26, 2018 the Facebook company announced wireless glasses of virtual reality (VR) Oculus Quest. One of their main advantages is the autonomy — for work the device does not need to be connected to the computer or the smartphone. All content can be stored on 64 Gbytes of a constant a flash memory, and graphic processing is performed by own processor.

The new model, as noted, became in assortment of the producer the first VR headset having six degrees of freedom: a system fixes both inclinations, and turns of the head in any direction. Thanks to it the user can look in any direction of virtual space, move through it, look back and walk "in the same way as in a material world", claim in Facebook.

Points are equipped with two small displays (on one on each eye) with the resolution capability   1600 × 1440 pixels and special sensors defining provision of the person in space. The device is complemented with pair of controllers which recreate the movements of hands that provides the most realistic feelings from a game. Points will have function of approach or a distance of the picture.

Developers note that a system considers a surrounding situation therefore it is possible to play both standing, and sitting. Also the built-in sound in comparison with the previous version of the virtual Oculus — Rift headset was significantly improved.

More detailed technical characteristics of a product do not reveal. For example, interest is attracted with how long it is capable to work without recharge.

Oculus Quest will be available for sale in the spring of 2019 and will cost $400. At the first stage about 50 games, including Robo Recall will be available to the device, The Climb and Moss, however, should buy them separately.[1]
