Odyssey Consulting Group on December 19, 2023 presented an IT tool for optimizing production planning from Odyssey Consulting Group.

Odyssey Optimizer solves an important planning problem that arises from manufacturing plants. It calculates the optimal sequence of the start-up order pool.

The relevance of the product is that APS systems do not optimize the launch order pool, but only perform capacity-balanced planning. Odyssey Optimizer allows you to build an optimal sequence of start-up orders and select a resource specification in a minute.

Optimization criteria are such important indicators for the enterprise as maximizing the margin of the pool of orders made from the availability of raw materials, semi-finished products or components, or minimizing the deviation from the agreed delivery date of all orders from the pool, based on the throughput of equipment, the availability of raw materials.

Input data to Odyssey Optimizer are production orders, NSIs, actual and forecast inventory. Examples of limitations are equipment throughput, working hours, scheduled maintenance of equipment, reconfiguration, production technologies.

Odyssey Optimizer uses optimization methods of economic and mathematical modeling and integer linear programming. The solution is built into the IT loop between ERP and APS systems, taking production orders, NSIs, balances data from ERP and transmitting the launch plan to APS. The absence of ERP/APS/MES systems is not a blocking factor for using Odyssey Optimizer. Both input and output data are transmitted in a universal table format.

The optimal distribution of the sequence of orders to work centers will allow production to reduce the duration of equipment rearrangements and reduce the time of delays to the shipment date.
