2022: Digital System Announcement
In mid-October 2022, GE Healthcare introduced the first fully digital PET/CT system in its range for the diagnosis of cancer. Positron emission tomography combined with X-ray computed tomography, which is a hybrid radionuclide diagnostic technique widely used in oncology worldwide.
The Omni Legendi system uses a brand new category of small crystal size BGO (dBGO) digital detectors, providing more than twice the sensitivity of previous digital scanners.
This allows you to reduce the total scan time and ensure the detection of small lesions. Omni Legendi is designed to improve operational efficiency, improve the quality of patient care and increase diagnostic power, which ideally contributes to improving patient outcomes.
Omni's Legendary system's capabilities in theranostics and ability to capture images of short-lived tracers, as well as dynamic protocols, help physicians gain more clinical information on all types of procedures in oncology, cardiology and neurology than October 2022.
The developers of the Omni Legendary system were able to increase throughput by more than a third thanks to the fast scan time, even reaching 35 patient scans per 9.5-hour shift, and reduce the radiation dose by 40% compared to the previous installed equipment. This allows not only to improve access and patient care, but also to increase the overall efficiency of the hospital.
Omni Legend is enhanced by AI, including a new Precision DLi solution for deep learning of PET/CT imaging, as well as an AI-based automatic positioning camera. Precision DLi technology is a separate processing technique. Omni Legend also includes Deep Learning technology with a sophisticated deep neural network trained on thousands of images created through various reconstruction techniques to provide image quality benefits such as better contrast-to-noise ratio, contrast recovery, and quantitative accuracy.
Omni Legend's capabilities are further enhanced by the inclusion of Q.Clear (BSREM), GE Healthcare's pioneering PET image reconstruction technology, and MotionFree, the company's proven device-free breathing correction technology. Q.Clear helps provide robust quantification, and MotionFree works in the background by adjusting airway artifacts for all types of patients. In addition, solutions to improve the operational efficiency of the new system help improve the quality of PET/CT imaging for both the technologist and the patient through convenient functions that provide:
- Fast data quality verification process that saves time with simplified calibration;
- Simplified protocol selection on the portal touch screen and a new user interface that makes it easy to perform PET/CT from start to finish;
- Enhanced patient positioning capabilities with an AI-based automatic positioning system that automatically centers the patient, allowing the hands to be fully free for positioning.[1]
