2025: Car recall in Russia due to airbags

Omoda has initiated a recall of Model C7 crossovers in Russia due to a defect in the driver's front airbag, which could lead to loose fixation of the steering wheel plastic pad. The manufacturer independently decided to conduct a preventive campaign to replace faulty components. Recall information was published on August 20, 2025.

According to autonews, the automaker has already sent a notification to Rosstandart about the start of a recall campaign. However, at the time of publication of the material, official information on the website of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology has not yet appeared.

A technical problem arose due to a production defect during the manufacturing process of the airbag. The excessive inclination of the guide element led to a decrease in the working stroke of the press equipment, which caused an insufficiently tight fixation of the plastic cover when installed on the airbag body.

The procedure for eliminating the defect involves a complete replacement of the plastic cover of the steering wheel assembly with the driver's front airbag. This measure is aimed at ensuring the correct operation of the passive safety system of the car.

The number of cars subject to recall, as well as the list of VIN numbers of the affected vehicles, has not yet been disclosed. The manufacturer promises to provide detailed information on the list of recalled machines in the near future.

The Omoda C7 crossover appeared on the Russian market three months ago and is positioned in the mid-size SUV segment. The car is offered to buyers in five different trim levels, which allows you to choose the best option depending on your needs and budget.[1]
