OpenStack Newton

Newton is the open platform for creation of a cloud environment.

On October 6, 2016 the community of OpenStack developers provided the 14th release of the open OpenStack Newton platform.

In this release the scalability and fault tolerance is optimized, the user interface for support of different types of workloads is improved, the user documentation is upgraded, a number of changes and additions is entered.

By means of the implemented improvements in a number of projects, including Magnum, Kuryr and Ironic, this release of Newton creates a single cloud platform for control of virtual machines, hardware (bare metal) of servers and containers. The functionality of the platform will help the companies to implement a broad spectrum of scenarios of use of virtual resources with a heterogeneous environment, accelerating and simplifying development processes using new technologies – such as containers and virtualization, to increase availability of virtual infrastructures.

Participation in work on OpenStack Watcher, one of projects which entered Newton release were accepted by engineers of Servionica company. In particular, the company made a contribution to solution of the problem of balancing of load of virtual capacities of OpenStack. Specialists of the company developed the concept of development of the Watcher project. According to the Stackalytics resource, Servionika – the only Russian company - the project participant, Watcher which entered TOP-5 of rating of contributors.
