2020: Start
At the end of March, 2020 HPE, Intel and Red Hat started the project for development of open source software to help operators to cut down expenses on start of a 5G networks on 40%.
The initiative of Open Distributed Infrastructure Management (ODIM) should integrate suppliers of servers, storages and networks in the project open source which will allow suppliers of telecommunication services to reduce considerably cost and complexity of deployments of a 5G networks. By estimates of HPE, thanks to this initiative time necessary for deployment of a 5G server will be reduced since one week till only eight o'clock.
HPE and Intel are going to begin the project open source within Linux Foundation. HPE stated that it intends to provide to community of developers the code controllability of infrastructure. Such companies as World Wide Technology (WWT) and Tech Mahindra, IT service provider from India became initial partners of this initiative.
According to HPE, the 5G initiative open source is "an excellent opportunity" both for corporate clients, and for suppliers who intend to reduce considerably the cost and complexity of implementation of a 5G networks. Without this initiative system integrators were forced to spend uncountable hours for integration of products from different suppliers of servers, storage systems and networks.
Within an initiative of HPE starts corporate offer 5G: the aggregator of resources for management of a distributed infrastructure of HPE Open. The aggregator models infrastructure elements on different platforms to simplify deployment of a 5G for suppliers from the different countries.
Primary phase of deployment of an initiative 5G ODIM will begin summer of 2020 in the form of the proof of concepts in laboratories. It will be followed by full deployment of the project at the end of 2020 or at the beginning of 2021.[1]
