According to the statement of the company, Opera Neon will provide to users unusual methods of interaction with web content, including an opportunity to move elements in the browser, to take away content directly from network.

Is provided the user interface as a part of which to Opera Neon:

  • the homepage using the background image set on the user's computer;
  • the left panel with the videoplayer, gallery of images and a download manager;
  • visual panel of tabs in the right part of a window of the browser for more convenient viewing tabs;
  • intelligent system of automatic control of tabs. The most often used tabs will rise upward, then, as seldom used tabs – on the contrary to fall down;
  • the search address bar, supports popular search engines and OpenSearch technology.

Functions are added:

  • the carrying out of video allowing users to continue to watch video, being on other web pages;
  • the instant picture of any part of the web page and preserving of the picture in gallery of the browser;
  • the mode of the separated screen, allows to open and work on the screen with two pages at the same time.

Being a concept, Opera Neon is not replacement of the Opera browser, the developer company stated. However, some of the functions provided in it are going to be implemented in Opera in the spring of 2017.

The concept of the Opera Neon browser is available to testing for Windows and Mac.

Developers processed the interface into Opera Neon, having removed usual elements from a working window of the browser. Instead of the homepage with several tiles in Neon round icons for designation of the websites are used, at the same time as a background wall-paper of a desktop of the user from the operating system can be used. The space for storage of icons is not limited — if they are not located on the starting screen, it automatically is extended and appears scroll bar. Besides, icons are automatically ranged — the more often the user visits any site, the above this portal will be displayed on the starting screen.

Active tabs in Opera Neon are displayed in the right part of the screen. According to representatives of Opera Software, large icons which contain both an icon of the website, and the preview of the page allow to be guided more comfortably in open tabs, than traditional small icons of the websites on tabs of other browsers. If desired the user can open two tabs in the mode of the separated screen (split screen) at once.

In the left part of a working window of the browser the toolbar which includes the return button on the main screen (opening of a new tab), the control button the player (on it the tabs playing video or a sound also are displayed there is an opportunity to suspend a voproizvedeniye) and the screenshot button, which not only takes the screenshot but also ties him to the page address is located. Also on the left side bar it is possible to open gallery of screenshots and the menu of the loaded files. Opera Neon is created based on the project open source of Chromium on the Blink engine (GNU LGPL v2.1 and BSD v2.0) and at the moment is available only to operating systems of the Windows family. Developers do not report whether Opera Software will develop further Opera Neon as the full-fledged browser, or it will remain an experimental product. When using the program sometimes there is a feeling of "dampness" of a product — for example, ranging of icons on the homepage sometimes can incorrectly work, and the control panel of media is called in the Russian Player version — apparently, was initial there wrote "Player" ("Player"). Also at the moment nothing is announced support of any expansions — their absence can strongly narrow real audience of the browser.
