2021: Launch of mass production

The portfolio company Rusnano "Optical Fiber Systems" has launched mass production of optical fiber of the G.654.E type. The optical fiber of this standard will be used for the project of PJSC Rostelecom to build a fiber-optic communication line from the western to eastern borders of the Russian Federation under the working name TEA NEXT ("Transit Europe - Asia of the last generation"). Rusnano reported this on March 3, 2021.

The first batch of optical fiber of this standard has already been delivered to one of the fiber optic cable factories - Incab LLC - where the cable will be produced for the first pilot section of the TEA NEXT project.

An improved single-mode optical fiber G.654 with a pure quartz core has low long-distance transmission losses data , which allows it to be used to build highly efficient optical telecommunication networks, such as ground-based long-distance and communications backbone submarine cables with optical amplifiers.

Among other things, a reduced attenuation factor and an increased effective mode area make it possible to design backbone networks with an optimal number of signal amplification and regeneration points, which reduces the cost of equipment during the construction of fiber-optic networks.

The production of optical fiber G.654 mastered by JSC Optical Fiber Systems in less than 6 months together with the Japanese company Sumitomo Electric, a strategic partner of the plant.

Before the launch of mass production, the quality of optical fiber G.654 the production of OVS was confirmed by joint tests with PJSC Rostelecom and Russian cable factories - Incab LLC, Saranskkabel-Optika LLC, Opten-Cable LLC, Altai-Cable LLC and Moskabel-Fudzhikura JSC.
