The name of the base system (platform): | Oracle SPARC |
Developers: | Oracle |
Date of the premiere of the system: | September, 2010 |
Technology: | Server platforms |
SPARC T3 known earlier under the code name Rainbow Falls, has 16 cores. It is twice more, than at the present most powerful Sun UltraSPARC T2 Plus chip provided in 2008.
SPARC T3 processors will be installed in the servers of Oracle of series T working running the Sun Solaris operating system and intended for management of databases, server business applications and also for the solution of other difficult tasks (for example, service of websites with a high load scale). In the market servers of Oracle should compete with the systems of IBM And Hewlett-Packard.
Each core of SPARC T3 as well as at T2 Plus, about eight computing flows are capable to process at the same time. Cores work at frequency up to 1.65 GHz and have 6 MB a cache memory of the second level. Each processor is equipped with the built-in accelerator of enciphering and also the integrated chip 10 Gigabit Ethernet providing high-speed network connection.
The T3-1 servers are intended for formation of infrastructure of Web and also for development of binding software and applications. A system 2U high can include up to 128 Gbytes of a base memory, up to 16 disk storage modules and to six PCI cards Express.
The T3-4 servers belong to the senior class and serve for placement of big databases, important business applications and project implementation of consolidation of servers. The server 5U high can be delivered with two or four T3 processors working at frequency of 1.65 GHz and RAM with a capacity of 512 Gbytes.
