The name of the base system (platform): | Oracle SPARC |
Developers: | Oracle |
Technology: | Supercomputer |
The Oracle SPARC T5 and M5 server together with servers of the initial SPARC T4 level represent the updated Oracle SPARC family. Now it is the complete line including models of the initial, average and highest level.
The senior model – the SPARC T5-8 server is intended for the organizations operating the applications requiring very high performance and the round-the-clock readiness. This server is capable to be scaled linearly to eight processors without the switching logic. Thus the customer can have at the order the model having up to 128 main cores and four terrabytes of RAM, optimized under workloads Oracle suitable for use in the integrated systems of Oracle. It is the biggest (the body 8U high) and the fastest SPARC server of series T, it is 4.5 times faster, than the biggest Oracle SPARC T4 server.
It is important that SPARC T5-8 has the high-performance system of input-output. It is the good platform for solving of tasks of virtualization or start of other applications with high intensity of these transactions. On a crystal specialized accelerators for security of applications are integrated that does not lead to performance penalty of the server. For customers also important that already available applications can freely begin to work for SPARC T5-8 as developers guarantee 100% binary-level compatibility with former versions of Oracle applications.
Reliability of a system is provided thanks to support of the RAS function of the corporate level, including redundant fans, disks and power sources with a possibility of hot swap. It increases time of smooth operation and simplifies system maintenance in case of machine failures.
The SPARC T5-4 server based on four SPARC T5 processors is optimized for software of the corporate level. It is the optimal server platform for exacting corporate applications, consolidations of servers and applications and also for work of Oracle DBMS. The server has modular architecture. The software of Oracle VM Server for SPARC and Oracle Solaris, not requiring licensing is included in the delivery.
The SPARC T5-2 server is optimized under workloads of web level, applications of the initial and average level and also databases. This dual-processor server 3U high can be used as the platform for consolidation and virtualization. It has the best performance of one-line tasks in a line of SPARC of series T. The thought-over, simple construction allows to optimize the occupied space. It is possible to reduce energy consumption using control functions by a power supply.
The Oracle ILOM controller works with standard protocols and provides integrated management, as at direct connection, and far off. The manager of Oracle ILOM also includes functions of fault detection and the notification on them. According to developers, SPARC T5-2 has the security functions, best in the industry, which are built in directly the processor and not requiring additional payment.
The SPARC M5-32 server for data processing centers. It is developed especially for very heavy business and critical operational loads. Heart of this model is 6-core, with 8 flows on a core the SPARC M5 processor with separated a cache memory. The SPARC M5-32 server allows expansion to 32 processors, 32 TB system memories, 32 internal disk storage devices and 64 expansion slots of a subsystem of input-output.
The Oracle corporation also announced in the spring of 2013 two new solutions of the Oracle Optimized Solutions family which use performance, reliability and advantages of the SPARC T5 servers, storage systems of Oracle, DBMS Oracle Database and binding software of Oracle Middleware. According to representatives of corporation, new solutions will help to maximize performance and readiness of applications, having reduced at the same time the acquisition value and operating expenses.
