Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud is a system for access for developers to the environment of the virtual machines ready for installation, testing and improvement of a program code.
The product is executed on the reliable, protected cloud platform using the revolutionary Software in Silicon technology ("software on a crystal") created in the Oracle SPARC M7 processor (prepares for release) running Oracle Solaris.
The Oracle Software in Silicon technology distributes the concept of the optimized hardware and software systems to processors. Being result of cooperation of specialists of Oracle on software development and microprocessors, the technology implements accelerators directly in the processor to give an extensive set of the functionality providing a possibility of rapid development of reliable and high-performance databases and applications. The Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud platform provides to developers the protected environment for testing and improvement of the software products, use of unique advantages of technology.
The opportunities implemented at the hardware level can be used for detection and prevention of damages of data and security risks. Results of accomplishment of test workloads demonstrate acceleration by 40 times, in comparison with use only of software tools, and in some tests more than 80-fold acceleration was reached. Such gain of performance shows a possibility of permanent use of these functions in working environments, without being limited only to testing environments.
Users of Oracle Software in Silicon Cloud will get access to the latest version of Oracle Solaris Studio which includes tools for detection of a set of types of violations of integrity of information in RAM and provides the detailed diagnostic information helping developers to increase quickly code maintainability.
The Software in Silicon functions implemented in [1]
- Application Data Integrity is verification of appeals to RAM at the hardware level. It is created for risk reduction in work, caused by errors in a security system, such as HeartBleed, provides hardware monitoring in real time of storage access of software processes and stops not registered access to memory whether it is connected by the error of programming or the attacks using buffer overflow. Helps to accelerate development of the code, provides quality, reliability and security of the software.
- Query Acceleration - increases request processing performance to the database in RAM, working with a data stream directly from memory by means of interfaces with the highest capacity - up to 160 GB / with that provides a huge gain of performance. For acceleration of requests in the SPARC M7 processor several blocks are executed.
- Decompression blocks in hardware Software in Silicon accelerators considerably increase the effective volume of memory, available to use. They execute a decompression of data on one processor with a speed equivalent to use of 16 PCI modules of a decompression or 60 main cores. It allows to store in RAM of the database in summary form, at the same time providing access and execution of operations with them without performance penalty.
Means of acceleration of requests and decompression can be combined for performance improvement and capacity, providing the most effective use of resources of memory, capacity and main cores for revolutionary performance improvement. Automatic control of integrity of data can constantly work for reliability augmentation and security.
After the maximum acceleration and security of operation of applications using Software in Silicon technology developers can improve installation process and deployments of the software products, integrating, creating and testing templates of the virtual machine for Oracle Solaris.
