Oracle VM Server for x86 Release 3.1

The Oracle corporation announced in June, 2012 release of the new version of the solution for virtualization of the Oracle VM Server for x86 Release 3.1 servers which provides the accelerated deployment of applications and simplifies management of a data processing center at all levels, from the application to a disk.

The optimized user interface simplifies use of the solution by administrators of virtual environments and reduces deployment time. At the same time, new opportunities expand compatibility with means of backup and external systems of data storage, says Oracle.

"Approach of Oracle to virtualization is based on the aspiration to simplify deployment of corporate applications and management of them in data processing centers and cloud environments — Wim Coekaerts, the senior vice president for the Oracle Linux and Virtualization direction said. — Oracle VM 3.1 offers a number of the improvements of the user interface designed to simplify tasks of administrators and also the improved control functions by storage increasing flexibility of migration of repositories of storage of the virtual machine. The new version will allow to simplify considerably management of applications and virtual environments and also to reduce costs".

The Oracle VM drivers for Windows (PV 3.0.1) and means of virtualization were certified within the Microsoft Server Virtualization Vendor Program (SVVP) program. Three new ready and preconfigured the Oracle VM Template template — for Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3, Oracle PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Management 9.1 and Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c — added more than 100 existing templates providing the accelerated deployment of applications.

According to Oracle, the intuitive Oracle VM 3.1 Manager web interface offers ready masters (wizards) for convenient access to tasks, fast accomplishment of different procedures and simple large-scale deployments of virtual farms.

In turn, the optimized means of configuring of resources of storage provide external NFS access to a repository of virtual machines for backup simplification. Besides, repositories of VM based on iSCSI and FC can quickly move from one pool of servers to another now, including in geographically distributed network, for support of high readiness and disaster recovery.

The solution Oracle VM is integrated with the products Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center included in a subscription for Oracle VM. In general the combination of Oracle VM, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center forms the complete cost-efficient solution for virtual and cloud environments, concluded in Oracle.
