Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance is a new hardware and software system from Oracle. The HSS is created for simple virtualization of applications.

The Oracle company announced an exit of a new product on August 14, 2013.

2013: Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance

Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance is the solution delivered completely collected and ready to work in the industrial environment at the minimum needs for software configuration that allows the customer to save hundreds of working hours and to reduce risk of errors when configuring the equipment and programs.

Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance provides fast deployment of infrastructure of the software for virtualization of any application and workload on x86 platform. Clients can already approximately in an hour after inclusion of a system enter it into the mode of operation and in several minutes to turn virtual machines, ready to work. Constructed on the basis of the high-performance switching bus InfiniBand, the HSS of Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance provides connection to the existing Ethernet networks and Fiber Channel through a pool of connecting modules which it is transparent are available to any virtual machine.

The hardware and software system Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance is designed for ensuring fault tolerance and has no uniform points of failure. Virtual machines of applications can automatically be restarted in case of failure in operation of the equipment or the software.

Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder

As a part of Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance there is a module Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder. Using the built-in support of previously tested and configured templates of Oracle VM virtual machines, customers will be able quickly to unroll a complete solution stack, including Oracle Linux, Oracle Solaris, DBMS binding software and business applications.

Licensing

Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance supports the model of licensing Oracle Trusted Partitions offering to customers flexibility of licensing of the software of Oracle by the number of virtual processors. The Oracle Virtual Compute Appliance system provides simple management and is completely integrated with Oracle Enterprise Manager for management of cloud environments and a complete technology stack.

Virtual Compute Appliance allows a combination of servers of different generations in one rack by means of adding of one computing node. Additional protection of investments is provided to these.

In the new platform the Oracle Trusted Partitions model is supported.
