The Oracle corporation provided storage systems of Oracle of a line of ZS3 which allow clients to optimize work in September, 2013, to cut down expenses of data processing centers and to increase performance of business applications and also to receive high capacity, a low delay and an optimal ratio the price/performance, claim in corporation.
In general storage systems of Oracle ZS3 help clients to execute quicker the major business operations, including optimization of supply chains, preparation of the quarter reporting, assessment of a set of investment scenarios and accomplishment of requests to databases. They also give to the enterprises an opportunity to react dynamically to requirements of applications, helping to accelerate obtaining economic effect.
To simplify deployment of Oracle Database, to increase performance of databases and to reduce requirements to space of storage, ZS3 systems use the new protocol of Oracle Intelligent Storage Protocol (OISP) which automates setup and administration of Oracle Database. When using this Oracle Database 12c protocol transfers metadata to Oracle ZS3 storage system which can automatically be configured, reducing manual processes by 65%, optimizing database performance and excepting errors of administrators. As a result clients can execute bigger amount of works at invariable number of staff.
In turn, new features of Oracle Database 12c — Heat Map and Automatic Data Optimization (ADO) — allow to apply different levels of compression during lifecycle of the databases given for ensuring high performance and reduction of requirements to storage capacity.
In the Oracle ZS3 systems the technology of pokolonochny compression Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC) which allows to squeeze data in Oracle Database at 10-50 times is also available, reducing requirements to space of storage and capacity of channels that, in turn, provides economy thanks to cutting of costs for data storage, including expenses on infrastructure of DPC, cooling, switches, channels, cables, racks, physical space and service.
According to developers, ZS3 operating system supporting symmetric multiprocessor processing effectively uses architecture of new generation, a cache - a bulk memory and multi-core processors for ensuring capacity more than 32 GB / page. "It allows one ZS3 system to support thousands of virtual machines, easily coping with transactions of input-output with extremely high levels of multithreading which excessively load the traditional NAS file systems, leading to their growth" — explained in Oracle.
ZS3 is a storage system with the dynamic performance focused on requirements of applications and the analysis of a system status in real time, allowing clients to visualize at the same time information on processors, a cache memory, protocols, disks, RAM, network transactions and system data. Based on the independent research DTrace Storage Analytics, fixed function of the storage devices Oracle ZFS allows clients 44% faster to solve problems, simplifying transactions for 38%, in comparison with Netapp FAS3270 system.
ZS3 Series offers the optimized architecture a cache memory of hybrid pools of storage which by 4 times increases efficiency of space usage for the optimized caching of the major data and also acceleration of write operations for providing a low delay of a response. According to Oracle, the architecture of ZS3 Hybrid Storage Pool with the improved use of flash drives supports multinuclear processing since 2008, and its new version reduces the general response time in comparison with the previous generation twice.
Thanks to intellectual algorithms of caching up to 70% of all transactions of input-output are executed in RAM — up to 2 TB on a system which in 1 thousand times quicker than flash drives and in 10 thousand times quicker than hard drives that accelerates accomplishment of requests and obtaining valuable knowledge, declared in corporation.
