2020: Development of uCPE

On February 26, 2020 it became known that Orange Business Services selected the companies Ekinops and Dell Technologies as partners for creation of the solution in the field of the general subscriber purpose equipment. Using virtualizations uCPE it is capable to replace with itself different types telecommunication of the equipment – for example routers switches, firewalls and optimizers of traffic and therefore plays an important role in migration of traditional communication networks towards software-defined (SD). Thanks to it, clients of Orange will be able to adapt better business to changes and also flexibly and just to unroll services in any of the offices or data centers. Since 2020, Orange will deliver solutions based on the uCPE platform for medium and large business worldwide.

The developed Orange together with partners the uCPE platform uses the hardware from Dell Technologies and technology of management of virtualization from Ekinops, solution provider in the field of network access. The IT infrastructure created thus allows to develop virtual network functions (VNF) on demand.

VNF can be far off unrolled on the equipment uCPE installed on any object of the enterprise. The separate node can perform several network functions, for example, of function of routers, SD-WAN, firewalls and optimization of WAN that allows clients to start objects and services much quicker. By the end of February, 2020 the program of certification of VNF of Ekinops company already there passed more than 30 third-party developers of virtual functions.

This solution will also help the companies to pass to boundary calculations (edge computing) for the tasks connected with video analytics, AI or IoT, started locally on uCPE. Data processing on the periphery of network will allow to increase performance of applications and to provide confidentiality of data.
