2023: System Announcement
On July 6, 2023, Stryker announced the withdrawal, the company said, of the world's first fully automatic knee implant system. The solution was called the Ortho Q Guidance System.
The platform combines new optical tracking features with an upgraded camera with sophisticated algorithms from specialized Ortho Guidance software. This provides medical professionals with additional surgical planning and guidance capabilities. The system improves the speed and efficiency of procedures with an intelligent and optimized workflow.
Ortho Q's solution was designed specifically for orthopaedic clinics and is the culmination of years of collaboration between teams in India, Germany and the United States. This platform lays the groundwork for expanding surgical capabilities, "said Bill Scott, vice president and CEO of Stryker's Orthopaedic Tools Division. |
Ortho Q is a robotic system with two computers and a high-speed camera. The accompanying software is not tied to any specific implants, which gives surgeons freedom of choice and allows them to perform different types of operations. Stryker says Triathlon implant software provides additional clinical feedback. In addition, the system takes up little space, which allows it to be used in relatively small operating rooms.
Knee diseases are one of the leading causes of adult disability. According to estimates, in Russia, about 4.5 million people suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee joint. At the same time, the real number of patients can be three times more - up to 15 million.[1]
