At the end of May, 2018 the software of OsteoDetect for automatic diagnosis of fractures of wrist at adult patients according to the roentgenogram was put on the market. OsteoDetect was developed by the American company Imagen Technologies.
Algorithms of artificial intelligence have huge potential and can help doctors of the most different specialties with diagnostics and treatment of diseases. So, for example, the software of OsteoDetect can help radiologists and orthopedists quicker and more effectively to reveal wrist fractures, - Robert Ochs, the director of the FDA center which is engaged in assessment of the radiological equipment which is used for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions of in vitro explained. |
For the analysis of roentgenograms of a wrist of adult patients the software of OsteoDetect uses different algorithms of machine learning – they estimate specific areas of the disteel end of a beam bone where usually there are cracks, during the work with back, front and medial and lateral roentgenograms.
An inspection of software was carried out using a retrospective research of 1000 roentgenograms on which the efficiency of an algorithm was independently estimated in the analysis of images. As the estimated parameters served detection of fractures of beam bone and accuracy of their localization by the software; results were compared to assessment of three certified orthopedic surgeons specializing in wrist fractures.
According to results of a research, use of software increased attentiveness of the doctor – thanks to software assessment doctors more often and quicker revealed changes and also eliminated pictures without pathology quicker.[1]
