2024: Product Announcement

In early August 2024, it became known that a long-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with the designation PD-2900 was developed in China. This kamikaze drone is capable of reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h and covering a distance of up to 2500 km.

According to the resource Interested Engineering, the drone is of the aircraft type. In the tail part there are two propellers, which are driven by two gasoline engines. The fuel reserve in an explosion-proof tank with a capacity of 160 liters is sufficient to maintain flight for 12 hours. The main elements of the structure are made of carbon fiber and composite materials, which provides structural strength with a minimum total weight.

PD-2900 kamikaze drone

Drone PD-2900 is said to have good aerodynamic characteristics. It received a camouflage color reminiscent of that of the Russian fifth-generation multipurpose fighter Su-57, created by the P.O. Sukhoy Design Bureau as part of the PAK FA comprehensive target program. It is noted that the model PD-2900 built using a number of technologies that are already involved in other Chinese drones. The new drone can provide precise kinematic positioning in real time.

Large kamikaze UAVs are seen as a more economical alternative to cruise missiles. The drone is PD-2900 capable of taking on board up to 100 kg of payload - ammunition or some kind of equipment, for example, surveillance equipment. Fully autonomous flight along the pre-planned route is provided. The launch can be carried out using a catapult or a special rocket launcher. The drone can be used to destroy targets, as well as for reconnaissance missions.[1]
