PTV Vissim represents a software package which allows to model the movement of air and sea vessels and also pedestrian flows.
In general the product PTV Vissim provides a possibility of simulation modeling of traffic, creation micro and mesomodels of the movement of individual and public transport, check of engineering hypotheses on the organization of traffic, etc.
PTV Vision Traffic Suite
For June, 2019 PTV Vissim, along with products PTV Visum, PTV Viswalk and PTV Vistro, is a part of PTV Vision Traffic Suite.

Basic module Vissim
The module is used for creation of micromodels of traffic flows. Main Functions:

Simulation modeling of the transport movement
For January, 2019 PTV Vissim allows to create simulation transport models using which effective solutions on the organization of the road and pedestrian movement are developed.
The microscopic transport model (micromodel) reflects the existing transport situation at the level of separate vehicles and pedestrians where as initial data serve measurements of on-site investigations. For simulation of perspective transport situations as initial data the forecast data calculated using PTV Visum on transport macromodel are used.
The simulation transport micromodel allows to analyze capacity of the transport hub — depending on road crossing type, at change of schemes ODD, optimization of work of traffic light objects, interaction of pedestrians and vehicles. And the recording capability 3D - videos of simulation allows to show the planned infrastructure solutions to everyone.
The movement of drivers and pedestrians in a simulation model is subordinated to special scientifically based behavioral models thanks to what realistic modeling of all participants of traffic is reached.
