In January 2025, an innovative system was introduced that video surveillances PaintCam can drive away intruders and wild animals using paintball balls. PaintCam is presented in several modifications: Eve, Eve + and EvePro are designed to protect against humans, and the Simba version is disguised to scare away wild animals. All devices are equipped with artificial intelligence that analyzes targets, recognizes faces and distinguishes between domestic and wild animals. If an intruder comes into view of the camera, the system first sends a warning signal, allowing you to leave the territory, and then activates the firing mechanism. Videos of incidents are saved for later use.

According to TechCrunch, the developer of the technology was a Slovenian startup, which had previously successfully conducted crowdfunding campaigns on the Kickstarter and Indiegogo platforms.

A feature of PaintCam is the choice of shells. Among them are balls containing capsaicin, a substance that gives spice to chili peppers, which is legal in most countries, and balls with ultraviolet paint to mark violators. The latter help law enforcement or animal capture services identify the offender.

The system was designed as a means of enhanced security for private areas. The startup opened sales at CES 2025, offering a product for installation in private homes and farms. Depending on the model, the devices support automatic control through mobile applications, which makes them easy to use.

PaintCam is positioned as a next-generation video surveillance and security solution that combines modern recognition and active impact technologies. Representatives of the startup stressed that the development takes into account the legal aspects of use and is aimed at minimizing harm.^[1]
